Thirty four (34) students, Emma D. Bentonio, Science adviser and Mr. Eddiezer B. de Borja, MAPEH Teacher I of Doongan Ilaya National High School during the Cluster VI Science Encampment 2012 in Catanauan National High School
The Science Encampment 2012 was held in Catanauan National High School, Catanauan, Quezon with the theme: Handa ka na ba? Climate Change Adaptation: The Next level. It was participated in by eleven (11) national high schools such as Catanauan NHS, Doongan Ilaya NHS, Tagbacan NHS, San Jose NHS, San Isidro NHS Catanauan, San Vicente Kanluran NHS, Tagabas Ibaba NHS, Matandang Sabang NHS, and San Roque NHS, Catanauan, Quezon, San Isidro NHS General Luna, and Malaya NHS, General Luna, Quezon. A total of thirty (30) participants per school is allowed to join the encampment as it was discussed during the meeting although there are some who exceeds the total number allowed per school while some schools have less than thirty participants. The arrival of participants and registration per school was on October 12, 2012 at CNHS. A film-viewing of science video 3 idiots was done. After the registration, participants assembled at the CNHS ground for the grouping. The preparation for the next day activities were also tackled.
The next day, different contests such as poster making, slogan making, collage making, scrap art making were held by stations. On the night of the same day, the participants of the Search for Mr. & Ms. Nature was chosen by group not by school. Participants of the said search were Angelica Perjes and Lolita Andal both from (III A), Renajoy Ricafrente (IVA) and Deo Pantoja (IVB).
The third day highlights the nature trail where different tasks were accomplished by the Science campers facilitated by the CNHS-CAT officers and led by Science advisers from different schools. The activity ended up with a tree planting. Students were given certificates for attending the encampment.
It was indeed a fun and enjoyable activities for the students where they gain new skills, share their talents, show their expertise and met new friends and become steward of nature.
